11/03/04 - EAA CONFIRMS FAA PROCEDURES FOR SPORT PILOT EXAMINER APPLICATIONS
First selection board convenes November 29
The first Light Sport Standardization Selection Board (LSSB) will convene on November 29, EAA confirmed this week with the FAA Light Sport Aviation branch AFS-610. FAA suggests that anyone interested in being considered for the Sport Pilot Examiner (SPE) or Sport Pilot Flight Instructor Examiner (SFIE) seminar should submit his or her application to the FAA no later than November 23, 2004. Applications received after this date will be considered during subsequent LSSB selection boards.
Applicants need to submit an FAA Application Form 8710-12. Current EAA Ultralight Flight Instructors (UFI) and Examiners (UFIE) who wish to apply to become an SPE or SFIE can request a letter of recommendation from EAA to include with their application. To request a letter, visit the EAA Ultralights website and complete an on-line request, or request a letter via e-mail, ultralights@eaa.org, or call 920-426-6831. Once a request is received, EAA will mail you a letter of recommendation.
The FAA has tentatively set the first SPE/SFIE seminar for mid-January 2005. No further details are known at this time. FAA will post details on their web site at http://afs600.faa.gov/AFS610.htm. |
