11/08/04 - FAA POSTS AIRMAN KNOWLEDGE TEST QUESTIONS
Late Friday, November 5, FAA’s Light-Sport Aircraft Branch posted several airman knowledge test questions on the AFS-610 website under Airman Knowledge Tests. Actual testing for sport pilots, for private pilot ratings for weight-shift control aircraft and powered parachutes, sport pilot flight instructors, and designated pilot examiners will begin December 1. Pilot examiner knowledge test authorizations will be issued by AFS-610 only.
The first listing is the sport pilot knowledge test questions. The second listing includes the private pilot questions added for the weight-shift control and powered parachute, even though it is listed as “Sport Pilot.” The third is for the sport pilot instructor and designated pilot examiners.
The practical test standards are in final coordination, says Martin Weaver, FAA Light-Sport Aircraft Branch Manager in Oklahoma City. “Our plan is to have them ready by December 1,” he said. “Our delay has been caused by trying to ensure that all the policy issues are incorporated into the PTSs.”
The new Sport Pilot Examiner Handbook (FAA Order 8710.7) was signed by AFS-1 on October 18. It is still in the process of being converted into compliance with new federal guidelines for handicap access. The LSA branch anticipates completion within the next couple of weeks. When this is finished it will be posted on the AFS-610 website. |
