03/03/05 - LIGHT-SPORT AIRCRAFT STANDARDS PUBLISHED IN FEDERAL REGISTER
The first industry-developed consensus standards for light-sport aircraft, which were accepted by the FAA last month at an FAA-EAA summit at EAA headquarters, were officially published today, March 3, in the Federal Register. The standards were developed over a more than two-year period by ASTM International's F-37 Light-Sport Aircraft Committee, which includes representatives from throughout the aviation community. EAA’s Earl Lawrence, vice president of government and industry affairs, serves as committee chairman. The accepted standards bring ready-to-fly special light-sport aircraft (S-LSA) and experimental light-sport aircraft (E-LSA) kits one step closer to reality. |
